Kia Motors India has revised prices of its Seltos SUV, applicable across India from yesterday (January 1, 2020). The price revision, which was announced last year, ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 across its variants. The Seltos, in BS-VI guise, was launched on August 22, 2019, at an introductory price of Rs 969,000 (ex-showroom), which was applicable till December 31, 2019.
Following the price increase, the Seltos range is now priced between Rs 989,000-Rs 17.34 lakh.T The petrol version, which has a sticker price of Rs 989,000-14.09 lakh, sees a hike of Rs 20,000 for the base HTE variant and Rs 30,000 for the trims above. Positioned at Rs 13.79-17.29 lakh, the more powerful turbo-petrol version sees prices go up by Rs 30,000. The diesel Seltos receives the highest mark-up of Rs 35,000 and now bears a sticker price of Rs 10.34-17.34 lakh.
There are no changes on the mechanical front. The Seltos continues to be available with 18 variants in two distinct categories – Tech-line and GT-line; the former gets a 115hp, 1.5-liter petrol engine (with a manual or CVT auto gearbox) and a 115hp, 1.5-liter diesel mill (mated to a manual or torque converter automatic transmission). The sportier GT-line boasts of a powerful 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine (allied to a manual or dual-clutch auto gearbox).
The Seltos has proven to be a runaway success for the Korean automaker and has sold 40,581 units till end-November 2019, with the Seltos being the No. 1 UV for the second month in a row. What’s more, it has helped Kia grow its UV market share to 6.34% in barely four months. The Seltos rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks in the Indian market.
