Snapshot: Another feature of the 2020 Scorpio has been revealed: an HUD!
it is a completely new generation of vehicles, and as such gets a bunch of features that have never been seen on the Scorpio before. The new Scorpio is scheduled for an unveiling at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo, and a new feature about it has come to light from spy images.
There is a part of the dashboard ahead of the steering wheel that is covered in the spy images, hinting that a Head-Up Display is in the works. A HUD projects light onto the windshield, which then can be seen by the driver. This enables the driver to get the necessary information like speed, and sometimes even driving directions from the sat nav, without taking his eyes off the road. Mahindra has always made it a point to deliver extra value in its products via more space and features compared to the competition. The fact that the Scorpio is getting a HUD also signals that the upcoming XUV 500 – also a completely new generation – will get this feature.
We don’t expect the base variants of the Scorpio to get this feature, but the top-spec variants of the Scorpio will be loaded, with the HUD is one of many features in the cabin, including a large touchscreen infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, a modern automatic gearbox for those respective variants, and much better touch and feel for the plastics and fabrics in the Scorpio’s interior. Another big change for the Scorpio will be the forward-facing third row, which Mahindra needed to install for the Scorpio to meet the new crash safety requirements.
The new Scorpio will be powered by a new 2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel that will generate more power and torque than before despite being BS Vl compliant from launch. It will be offered with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
