  • MG Glostrer’s price in India will be revealed next month

MG Gloster, the British carmaker’s third product for India, will go on sale here next month, probably by the second week of October. Ahead of that the carmaker revealed the Gloster yesterday and has even started accepting bookings for the SUV. MG Gloster can be booked for a token amount of ₹1 lakh and interested customers can do so by visiting the nearest MG dealership or via the carmaker’s India website. The Gloster was initially unveiled by Morris Garages at Auto Expo 2020 but the company had just given us a glimpse of the car’s exterior design. However, the British carmaker has revealed all the details about the SUV and the only remaining piece of the puzzle is Gloster’s price in India.

MG Gloster is a full-size SUV and is 4,985 mm long, making it longer than Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. According to MG, the Gloster will offer space and performance similar to vehicles like Toyota Land Cruiser Prado although it will cost significantly less than such vehicles. Besides its dimensions, the biggest trick up the Gloster’s sleeves is the extensive feature list with which the SUV comes equipped. These include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with latest i-Smart 2.0 connectivity interface, panoramic sunroof, a semi-digital instrument panel with eight-inch TFT screen, 64-colour ambient lighting, foot-activated electric tailgate, front ventilated seats, and three-zone climate control system, and seven different terrain modes, including Rock, Sand, Mud, and Snow.

The Gloster comes equipped with Level 1 Autonomous capabilities, thanks to a plethora of ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) like Auto Park Assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitor, fatigue reminder system, etc.

MG Gloster will be offered with a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that develops 215 bhp and 480 Nm of peak torque. This engine will come coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission only. Gloster will also get on-demand 4WD with Borg Warner transfer case and a separate rear differential lock button. MG Gloster’s price in India will be revealed next month and we expect it to cost somewhere around ₹40 lakh – ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom).
